 | | Darlene Berghammer
|
Darlene Villarreal Berghammer is a native of San Antonio and graduated
from St. Mary's University and Texas State University with a masters in
public administration. Growing up the eldest of five children, Darlene
learned early the value of her mother's sewing skills, and after moving to
Austin to raise her own family, her own style and creativity emerged.
Darlene's reputation as a community activist is well known from her
involvement in her children's schools, state and local politics, and various
women's volunteer organizations. She credits her success in business,
community and family to the solid relationships she and her husband have
built at home. Serendipity brought her to Simply Divine after a long-
standing friendship with the Charisse and Diane's parents.
 | | Jennifer Carr
|
Dallas native Jennifer Carr is a graduate of Texas A&M University with a
degree in journalism, and moved to Austin to pursue a graduate degree in
communications from the University of Texas, where she met Diane Kearns
and Charisse Kovas. After several years working as a director of
communications for state and national non-profits, she decided to pursue a
career with Internet start-up boutique Brilliant Media in San Francisco.
When the opportunity presented itself, Jennifer returned to Austin, where
she reunited with Diane and Charisse to help create Simply Divine | Baby
Divine. Jennifer is active in community and volunteer organizations,
including Austin Junior Forum.
 | | Diane Kearns
|
Diane Kearns was raised in Austin, graduating from Westwood High
School and Concordia Lutheran University. She spent nine years in New
York City working at the ABC Television Network, and then moved to the fast-
paced world of Internet start-ups in both New York City and the San
Francisco Bay area. Diane returned to Austin in 2001 with her husband
Don, and soon after had twins Dean and Vivian – her inspiration for the
Baby Divine product line. She is active in the community as a volunteer for
Austin Junior Forum, and for Sammy’s House, a center that provides
services for special needs children. Diane, along with her sister Charisse,
has been designing and sewing clothes since the age of five.
 | | Charisse Kovas
|
Charisse Kovas started her design career at the ripe age of six years old
sewing doll clothes. In high school, Charisse's father came up with a plan
to curb his girls' growing wardrobe: they could have as many clothes they
wanted, if they sewed them all. During her senior year of college, Charisse
and her younger sister spent a month and a half traveling around Europe,
donning basic black and white outfits they designed to share. Her travels to
Europe, Asia, Central and South America, the Pacific Rim, and right here at
home on both coasts and the mid-west, have influenced her style and
creativity. In addition to designing and sewing, she is an active volunteer in
her community, children's schools, women's organizations, and church.
Now with the combined expertise of the Simply Design team, she is
creating for the public.
